5.8.03 - The road to 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece begins on 5 September 2003 for CONCACAF as the opening round of the two-game elimination series for the men?s under-23 Qualifying with the Bahamas hosting Trinidad & Tobago at the BFA National Stadium in Nassau at 19:30.

The first round feature 22 teams competing in a home-and-home series until the 12 October. Honduras and the USA received byes into the second round.

El Salvador and St. Lucia were set to meet Puerto Rico and Antigua &Barbuda, respectively, in the opening round but receive a bye in the competition after the Puerto Rico withdrew and Antigua was suspended by FIFA.

The 10 opening round winners along with El Salvador, St. Lucia, Honduras and the USA in the second round series set for mid-November 2003.

The seven remaining team after the second round will then be joined by Mexico, who is the host for the final round of CONCACAF qualification from 2-12 February 2004, for only two berths to the Olympic Games.
