Edouard annihilates Siris!

By Robert Coster at ringside
Showing one punch knockout power, Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard (18-1-2,10 KOs) annihilated Colombian brawler Jairo Siris at 2.42 of the first round to capture the vacant 154lb WBA Fedecaribe title. Edouard impressed by showing poise against an agressive, wild-swinging opponent who came right at him. The Haitian-American boxer set up the knockout blow very nicely with a jab that he turned into a hook and then coming back with a perfectly timed right cross. Siris collapsed to the canvas where he stayed prone for a good three minutes. Edouard is now looking for bigger and better things.
In other fights, WBC #1 Jr Flyweight contender Edgar Sosa of Mexico (26-5, 14 KOs) won a hard-fought 10 round majority technical decision over former two-time WBA straweight champion Noel Arambulet of Venezuela (22-7-1,12 KOs). A clash of heads forced referee Hector Afu of Panama to called a halt to a thrilling see-saw battle in the last round and to go to the scorecards. Arambulet's corner vehemently protested the referee's call, alledging that the deep gash over Sosa's right eye was caused by a legitimate blow. The scorecard in favor of Sosa was 88-83, 87-84, 86-86 A rematch between these two valiant liitle warriors could well be considered. Their clash here was certainly first rate.
The third bout saw WBA #4 bantamweight Anselmo Moreno of Panama(16-1-1, 5 KOs) win an easy 10 round decision over Venezuelan Franklin Varela (11-4,7 KOs). Moreno, a lanky southpaw, controlled the desperate rushes of the shorter Varela, peppering his game opponent with well-timed jabs and crosses. Scores in favor of the Panamenan were 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. Moreno thus retains his WBA Fedecentro crown and gains the vacant WBA Fedecaribe belt.
A preliminary 6 rounder saw Haitian cruserweight Raphael Larose win a 4rd round TKO over Carlos Pena of the Dominican Republic. The boxing card offered by promotor Jacques Deschamps was the first one on the Island nation in two years and held at the plush Karibe Convention Center in front of a packed audience estimated at around 1000 people.
