Bahamas & Cuba open Caribbean Group E with victories
2.9.06 - The Bahamas and the host Cuba opened the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup First Round Group E with victories over the Cayman Islands and Turks & Caicos Islands, respectively, at the Pedro Marrero Stadium in Havana on Saturday.
Reinier Alcántara scored three times, while Osvaldo Alonso, Rudy Lay Arencibia and Ramón Ocaña each added another for Cuba (1-0-0, 3 Points) in the 6:0 win against Turks & Caicos Islands (0-1-0, 0 Points).
In the earlier encounter on Saturday, the Bahamas (1-0-0, 3 Points) posted a 3:1 victory over the Cayman Islands (0-1-0, 0 Points). A Cayman Islands? own goal plus scores from Ryan Moseley and Shemod Thompson were the offence for the Bahamas who achieve their first international win since 2000.
The Digicel Caribbean Cup Group E continues on Monday (4 September) at the Pedro Marrero Stadium when the Cayman Islands meets Turks & Caicos Islands at 15:00 and then Cuba greets the Bahamas at 17:15.
