EASTON, Mass. (September 30, 2006) ? Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 3 in this week?s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-0 victory at Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men?s soccer action at Skyhawks Field this afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder Raphael Guimaraes (Marlborough, Mass./Ashland) totaled five points with two goals and an assist, while grad student David Clifton (London, England) netted the first two goals of his Franklin Pierce career to lead the Ravens.
Clifton put the Ravens on the board 32:10 into the first half when he scored off a feed from Guimaraes in the middle of the penalty area.

Franklin Pierce scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second half and added a third in the 56th minute to break the match open. Guimaraes netted his first, off a feed from sophomore Marek Hawrylik (Olsztyn, Poland/The Winchendon (Mass.) School) 2:59 into the second half, before Clifton completed his brace, assisted by
sophomore Frantz Francois (Saint-Marc, Haiti) at 49:34.
Guimaraes rounded out his double at 55:23, assisted by junior Mike Lima (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow). Freshman Abilio Goncalves (Ashland, Mass./Bridgton Academy) rounded out the scoring in the 84th minute with his first collegiate goal.
Junior All-America goalkeeper James Thorpe (East Longmeadow, Mass./Bridgton Academy) made two saves in 76:38 of work, before giving way to freshman Alec Cambio (Scituate, R.I./Providence Country Day), who made one save over the final 13:22 in his collegiate debut.
Stonehill sophomore Danny Kerl (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. Anthony?s) made a career-high 14 saves in goal for the Skyhawks, who were out-shot 24-3.
Franklin Pierce (10-0-1, 6-0-1 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday for a key Conference clash at Le Moyne College in a rematch of the 2005 NE-10 Tournament Championship, won by the Dolphins (1-0), at 4 p.m. The Ravens are back home next Saturday when they host Saint Anselm College at 7 p.m. Stonehill (5-7, 2-6 NE-10) visits Bryant University on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
