Chatting with ... Haitian-Canadian Hockey Player Maxime Fortunus
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?: You know what, I've been playing hockey all my life during the summers and training, but it was probably working with my dad at the garage. He was a mechanic. I was the secretary.
WHAT WERE YOUR DUTIES?: I was basically answering the phone and watching him do all the work on the cars. I thought I'd learn a bit.
IS THAT SOMETHING YOU HAD A REAL INTEREST IN?: I really like cars and my brother is also a mechanic. He's working with my dad right now. In the summer I go there and try to pick up a few things.
IS THAT WHAT YOU'D BE DOING WHEN YOUR CAREER IS OVER? I don't think I would. I always wanted to be in physio therapy and work in the health business.
FAVOURITE FOOD?: Caribbean food, my mom's food. Probably would rice with a bean sauce on there.
IS IT SPICY?: No, not really. A lot of food from the Caribbean is spicy but we're from Haiti and it's a little less spicy.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?: A '98 Jetta, a red one. I bought it from my mother-in-law. Yeah, I stayed with the Jetta when I bought a new car last year.
WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM CAR BE?: I'm going to have to go with the Cadillac Escalade, with pimped-out rims and everything.
FAVOURITE ARTIST?: Wyclef Jean, a fellow Haitian.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE SONG OF HIS?: It's tough to choose one. He's got a lot of good songs.
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTOR?: I like Eddie Murphy. He's a funny dude.
FAVOURITE MOVIE FROM HIS COLLECTION?: Beverley Hills Cop. That is a really good series and Coming to America has got to be up there.
