Jermaine Mackey versus Canadian-Haitian Native Jean Pascal For NABO Title Fight Tonight In Montreal
The next stop for Jermaine "Chu Chu" Mackey, the World Boxing Council?s CABOFE Super Middleweight Champion, is a shot at the North American Boxing Organization?s Super Middleweight title sanctioned by the World Boxing Organization.
Mackey will face off against WBC Latino Super Middleweight Champion, Haitian native, Jean Pascal tonight in the main event in Montreal, Canada.
This battle is forecasted to be intense as both men stand undefeated, Mackey in 11 and Pascal in 14 bouts. Furthermore both fighters seem to be at the same stage in their boxing career.
In Mackey?s most recent bout held during the last week of August, he captured the WBC?s CABOFE Super Middleweight title via a sixth round technical knock out over Barbados? Marcus "Marvelous" Thomas? who suffered his first loss in eight bouts.
But Mackey burst to the front of the boxing scene after knocking out "Marvelous" Marvin Smith last summer for the Bahamas Boxing Commission?s Super Middleweight title.
Meanwhile, Pascal, who grew up in Laval, Quebec recently captured his WBC Latino Super Middleweight title and his first international title in September, knocking Lucas Green Arias of Costa Rica to the floor at the end of the sixth round. Arias had to be carried from the ring on a stretcher.
After this fight Pascal noted, "It's nice to win by KO, but when a guy is hurt, it's not that much fun."
When being measured up by his opponents, his tall and lean stature can be deceptive Mackey noted.
"I don?t throw a bunch of power shots? I throw them randomly. Instead I use every muscle in my body to bring the power. At first glance people would say, "Oh look at this bony fella??He can?t fight." But when I get in the ring I just fight my heart out.
"I know Pascal from Carifta but we never fought before so I expect for this to be a great fight. This card opportunity for me leads up to getting a world title shot. I want to thank all of the guys in the gym that I spar with me. Furthermore I thank my sponsor Nautilus Water and those Bahamians who cheer me on when they see me run on the road," said Mackey.
Meanwhile Pascal, went 103-18 as a amateur and is the only fighter to be named boxer of the year in Canada three times, from 2001 to 2003. He is known to be a power puncher with good movement.
Pascal has a great boxing background. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Yordania Despagne of Cuba beat Pascal in the first round at the Olympics. According to Pascal, he wants to be a world champ someday.
