Haitian Baltimore Sportif Club upsets Jamaica's Waterhouse 2-0 in Group B Carribeen Club Championship
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - Baltimore Sportif scored a goal in each half and the Haitian side defeated host Waterhouse 2-0 Friday night to open Group B qualifying for the Caribbean Club Championship.
Pierre Jaint Jean scored in the 18th minute and Oumel Decius added insurance in the 50th to give the Haitian side the early edge in the three-team group.
The winners of the four qualifying groups advance to the semifinals. The Caribbean champion earns a place in the main draw of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, and a first-round meeting against the Mexican Apertura league champion.
The second game in Group B, between Curacao's Deportiva Banba Abou and Baltimore Sportif, will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
In Group C, the opening game Friday of the four-team qualifying group in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, between the Islanders and Fruta Conquerors had to be postponed when the Guyanese side failed to arrive on time.

Puerto Rico Islanders open Caribbean Group C with victory
9.12.06 - Puerto Rico Islanders (PUR) opened the Group C of the 2006 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship First Round with a 3:1 victory over Hoppers FC (ATG) at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon on Saturday.
Yuri Morales scored twice, while Alejandro Gonzalez added another for the host Puerto Rico Islanders (1-0-0, 3 Points) for the win.
The CFU Club Championship continues on Monday (11 December) in Bayamon as Trinidad & Tobago?s W Connection meets Hoppers FC of Antigua & Barbuda (0-1-0, 0 Points) at 20:00.
The triangular concludes on Wednesday (13 December) at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium with Puerto Rico Islanders taking on W Connection at 20:00.
Elsewhere in the CFU Club Championship, goals by Decius Dumel and Jean Saint-Pierre led Baltimore Sportif of Haiti (1-0-0, 3 Points) to a 2:0 victory against the host Waterhouse FC of Jamaica in Group B play at the Waterhouse Stadium in Kingston on 8 December.
The event continues on Sunday (10 December) in Kingston as Baltimore Sportif faces UNDEBA of Netherlands Antilles at 15:30. Group B concludes on Tuesday (12 December) as Waterhouse FC greets UNDEBA at 18:00.
The winners of Groups B & C will join Harbour View FC of Jamaica and the Group D victor in the next round of the 2006 CFU Club Championship later this month.
The Caribbean Tournament Champion will progress to the 2007 CONCACAF Champions? Cup? and face 2006 Mexican League Torneo de Apertura Winner in the Quarterfinal Series 3.
The CONCACAF Champions Cup? is the longest running international club competition in the region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception in 1962.
