Baltimore Sportif beats Deportiva Banda Abou 4-0 in Caribbean Cup
Monday, December 11, 2006
KINGTSON, Jamaica
Dumel Decius scored a hat trick to lead Baltimore Sportif of Haiti to a 4-0 win over Deportiva Banda Abou of Curacao in Group B of the Caribbean Football Union Championship.
Decius scored all three of his goals in the first half Sunday at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium to put his team into the final round. Lesca Cileus scored the other goal in 61st minute

Waterhouse booted from club championships
Wray and Nephew National Premier League champions Waterhouse F.C. were eliminated from the CFU Caribbean Club Championships, following Haitian club Baltimore Sportif's impressive 4-0 win over Curaao's Deportivo Banda Abou at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium yesterday.
Baltimore Sportif's win sees them top the three-team Group B with six points, following a 2-0 win over hosts Waterhouse on Friday. With only one team from each group advancing to the semi-final round, Sportif booked their spot alongside Harbour View, who topped Group A earlier in the week.
"This was a very disappointing result for us, we were really looking forward to doing well in the Caribbean Championships," said Waterhouse coach Barrington Gaynor.
Purely academic interest
"Now we'll just have to turn our attention back to the Premier League and Tuesday's game should give us a bit of practice at least." he added.
Waterhouse will play against Deportivo Banda Abou tomorrow at the Waterhouse Stadium in a game of purely academic interest.
Striker Dumel Decius slammed in a first-half hat-trick for the Haitian team, who dominated proceedings from start to finish. Decius, whose pace was always going to be a problem for the Banda Abou back line, struck from close range in the sixth minute. He then sprinted away from the back line, before poking the ball over the head of advancing Deportivo Banda Abou keeper Jarzinho Pieter in the 26th minute, after collecting a return pass from teammate Baril Joseph. Decius completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time after collecting a pass from teammate Emerlin Nicolas six yards away from goal. Lesca Cileus completed the scoring for the Haitian team with a goal in the 61st minute.

Good Job Baltimore!
This is how players get foreign contracts. You do well in the CONCACAF Champion's Cup Qualifiers and you will be looked at. The mexican, USA, and other regional higher league scouts and coaches will be taking notes in the Caribbean Semifinals. I guarantee you that many of them are anxious about what Haiti has to offer. Haitians are known as genuinly technical players, it's an attribute that if properly used in the correct settings can help create many scoring opportunities.
What makes the Haitian Soccer player Market attractive:
Good:
1) Very Very Cheap!
2) From the very few that have gone international recently, enough of them have impose themselves in high level competition.
3) New Market in a way, minimal competition among agents.
Bad:
1) Very risky country, hard to scout players. But if you can bring them in a different settings, like the CONCACAF Caribbean Semifinal, then it would be a mistake to pass on this opportunity.
With the current situation in Haiti, it would be bad to have the semifinal in Haiti. Yes Field advantage would give a big boost to Baltimore but if they don't make the next round they will miss out on being scouted to the maximum.
