Fairleigh Dickinson senior defender Elkana Mayard was named to the scholar second team
TOP OF THE CLASS: Hofstra's Todd, FDU's Mayard on scholar team
Hofstra senior forward Michael Todd was named to the college men scholar All-America First Team, it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Todd, who carries a 3.40 grade point average in exercise science, was one of 11 first-team selections nationally from players in all three divisions. He adds this honor to a second-team CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America honor, which he received last month.
Fairleigh Dickinson senior defender Elkana Mayard was named to the second team. Mayard, a civil engineering technology major, has a 3.55 GPA.
Maryland junior midfielder Stephen King Jr. of Medford, N.J. also was named to the second team. He is a finance major who sports a 3.47 GPA.
Todd ahad a busy postseason of awards for his on-field performances. He was named the first Division I All-American in Hofstra men's soccer history, earning second-team honors from the NSCAA. He was also named the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year, the Pride's first conference player of the year honor since 1997. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA tournament.
He also became the second player in school history to reach 100 career points. He wrapped up his college career with 40 goals and 21 assists, good for 101 points.
