CONCACAF Gold Cup: Costa Rica & Panama reach Central American Final

17.2.07 - Panama and Costa Rica reached the Final of the Copa de Naciones Digicel 2007 de UNCAF, which is the Central American Qualification to the CONCACAF Gold Cup?, after defeating Guatemala and the host, El Salvador, respectively, in the tournament semifinals at the Cuscatlán Stadium in San Salvador on Friday evening.

Felipe Baloy and Ricardo Phillips scored for Panama in the 2:0 win over Guatemala on Friday, while goals by Danny Fonseca and Harold Wallace led Costa Rica to a 2:0 victory against El Salvador.

The Copa de Naciones Digicel 2007 de UNCAF (Union Centroamericana de Fútbol) concludes on Sunday at the Cuscatlán Stadium with El Salvador taking on Guatemala in the third place match and then the defending champion Costa Rica looks for their sixth Central American crown as they face Panama in the finals. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama along with Honduras are the Central American qualifiers to the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup?, taking place from 6-24 June in six venues across the USA, joining Caribbean representatives Cuba, Guadeloupe, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago and the previous Gold Cup champions (Canada, Mexico, USA).
