Mexico to host CONCACAF U-20 Final Round Group B this week
20.2.07 - Mexico will host the 2007 CONCACAF Under-20 Final Round Qualification Group B from 21-25 February at the Banorte Stadium in Culiacán, Sinaloa. COMPLETE SCHEDULE
Mexico, which is staging its third CONCACAF youth event, will greet Costa Rica, Jamaica and St. Kitts & Nevis in Group B, from which two teams will progress to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 from 30 June ? 12 July.
The USA and Panama were the first two CONCACAF representatives to qualify to the FIFA U-20 World Cup after finishing first and second, respectively, in Group A Final Round Qualification held at the Rommel Fernández Stadium in Panama City from 17-21 January.

COSTA RICA: Claimed one of the two Central American berths in the CONCACAF Final Round after winning the Union Centroamericana de Fútbol Group 2 over Nicaragua and the hosts, Honduras ? With Geovanni Alfaro at the helm, the ticos are making their 15th appearance at the CONCACAF Youth Tournament ? Costa Rica has qualified for five FIFA U-20 World Cups, the most of any Central American nation.

JAMAICA: Dean Weatherly is in charge of Jamaica, who earned a berth in the CONCACAF Final Round by eliminating Trinidad & Tobago in a home-and-away playoff series ? The reggae boyz competed in the playoff after finishing second in the Caribbean Football Union Group G Second Round with victories over Bermuda and Netherlands Antilles but were held to a scoreless draw against the hosts, Haiti and lost first-place on goal difference ? Jamaica became only the second Caribbean nation to qualify to a FIFA World Youth Championship when they competed in Argentina 2001.

Mexico has won a total of 10 CONCACAF U-20 tournaments from 1962 to 1992 along with 10 appearances (second most in CONCACAF) at the FIFA U-20 World Cups ? The tricolor were runners-up at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Tunisia 1977 and were also the first CONCACAF nation to host the FIFA event in 1983 ? Mexico is coached by Jesús Ramirez who was also at the helm of the U-17 team that captured the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2005.

CONCACAF: Costa Rica & Mexico open U-20 Group B with victories
21.2.07 - Costa Rica and the host Mexico opened the 2007 CONCACAF Under-20 Final Round Qualification Group B with victories over Jamaica and St. Kitts & Nevis, respectively, at the Banorte Stadium in Culiacán, Sinaloa on Wednesday.
Goals by Celso Borges and Jean Carlos Solorzano led Costa Rica (1-0-0, 3 Points) to a 2:0 win over Jamaica (0-1-0, 0 Points) in the first encounter at the Banorte Stadium.
Meanwhile in the second match, Giovanni Dos Santos and Cesar Villaluz scored for Mexico (1-0-0, 3 Points) in the 2:0 victory against St. Kitts & Nevis (0-1-0, 0 Points).
The CONCACAF U-20 Group B continues on Friday in Culiacán with Costa Rica taking on St. Kitts & Nevis at 16:00 and then Mexico greeting Jamaica at 19:00. Group B concludes on Sunday, when St. Kitts & Nevis plays against Jamaica at 16:00 and then Mexico hosts Costa Rica at 19:00.
The top two from Group B will join Panama and USA to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 from 30 June ? 12 July.
