Soccer Football/Soccer - Eloi? or, No Eloi? What do the fans say?

Pro: Despite his inactivity, Eloi is the most experienced and notable available striker to the Haitian NT. With the loss of Peguero due to Injury the NT is short of potent strikers. The Haitian NT is solid in defense and midfield but an injury to Eliphene Cadet could seriously impact Haiti's Gold Cup hopes. Boucicot has been transformed from a midfielder to a striker by coach Garcia and has done better than many. There's no doubt that Eloi's services on the field or on the bench would be reassuring.
CON: Wageau Eloi was born on September 11, 1973 will soon turn 34 years old. He's been serving a season long suspension since December 2006 thus has not seen action for 6 months. He snubbed the Haitian Natinal Team, when ex-coach Clavijo requested his help for World Cup 2006 Qualifiers. For the Gold Cup he's imposing conditions to the team that he will not play on Haitian soil citing kidnapings as a reason. Other newcommers like Windsor Norcent have shown more pride to play for Haiti and are willing to go to Haiti to train with the team. His attitude could seriously affect the morale of the team.

yes, from my opinion we need him even he's going to be in the bench or play .he's not going to haiti for practice that's can affect the team too, but we need someone like that in the team.

Nou ka fe anpil male ak ekip nou genyen kounye a : fok nou gen konfyans nan ekip nou an.

Yes we need him (Eloi) not only for the Gold Cup in June but for the beginning of World Cup 2010 Qualification ...
Even if Peguero come back in 2007 ... We are not sure what kind of player Peguero is going to be after coming back from a severe ACL Injury (6 to 8 months)..
Like you said Pano - We have dept in Defense & Midfield .. We need to start building dept in the strikers position for the NT ...

Well Eloi gonna be inspiration for our young players especially for these guys who playing in Haiti. I think this going to make them work even harder to earn a spot in NT.

On many occasion ... Coach Armilo Luis Garcia has said ... that nobody jobs is guarantee on the NT
We actually beat Trinidad for the Digicel Cup but Trinidad squad was made up of 10 to 12 players playing in College ... the majority of the Trinidad squad stay in Europe rather than attend the Digicel Cup ... yeah - We won but we did not beat the full squad of Trinidad but we won ..
Federation had the NT team (Reserve players from First Division) play a game against the US U20 team and against the wishes of Coach Garcia ... the NT lost to 2-1 to bunch of US U20 College kids ... What "Impressionnant" for NT reserved to lose to bunch of College kids Under 20 year old ..
If I was Wagneau Elio in the early 1990 and late 1990's ... I would not want to play for the federation either .... The way the Federation was running the team and the political turmoil the country was going thru ... I would not want to play for the NT either .... but Yesterday is Yesterday ... Today is today and tomorrow is another day ...
We all got to do what it best for us ... Wagneau had to do what is best for him ... Welcome back ..

There was a time when Eloi was seen as "the saviour"! If that was still the case than he may have had an effect on the team, but now if the coach decides to take him, he will be just another player. Yes, he has had a lot of experience that we need, but we have a working formula. I would say that he would be a great addition to the team, but Coach Garcia would know best! One thing though, when it comes to his past relationship with the team or his attitude about not going to Haiti, he has that right to make that decision specially when his family's life was put in jeopardy because they know who he is. His family was kidnapped because they know he could pay, so what guarrantee that we have that he will not be kidnapped for ransom, if he goes to Haiti! None whatsoever!
In terms of him not willing to play for Haiti before, although there is no guarantee he may have been able to help us beat Jamaica. But what about the giants of Concacaf, would one man have made a difference against them? If we had a chance to make the 06 World Cup, I would understand, but short of that we cannot blame him. We should be happy that the man is willing to play for Haiti! To play in the qualifiers would mean leaving his team, risking injury, ect.. while he has a great career to worry about!! He may have been willing to that if we had a chance, I doubt that we did!!

Imposing conditions to play for Haiti, seems like he thinks that he's doing us a favor. I'd rather have an enthousiast player like Antonio Despinasse or Oscaldo Jeremie on the team. Those players did not even make the short list of 30.
I want proud Haitians on the NT! Good or bad Haiti's the motherland! Things are bad, so get security guards, Windsor Norcent is in Haiti training, Wyclef Jean is in Haiti all the time.
