Tickets for the football competition in the Pan American Games Rio 2007 will be available at the web site
www.ingressosrio2007.com.br starting midnight tonight, June 20th. Besides football, other disciplines will also have a new lot of tickets for sale due to the final definition of venue capacity. In order to make the process easier, purchase over the Internet with home delivery was extended to next Sunday, June 24th. On Monday, June 25th, the website will migrate to sales with vouchers, which must be exchanged at the venue ticketing booths starting on July 1st, when on-site sales start.

For spectators who have already purchased tickets through the website, the Organizing Committee of the Pan American Games Rio 2007 (CO-RIO) informs that the times for some sessions have been altered due to adjustments in the sport program, whose final format has been approved by the technical delegates from each discipline. CO-RIO asks spectators that they check the times of the sessions for which they purchased tickets to learn whether changes have been made. Spectators who purchased tickets for a session whose time has been changed may visit the Customer Services Center located at Rua Lauro Muller 116, room 1403 and present the ticket for cancellation and reimbursement, if they wish.

By determination of the Pan American sports Organization (PASO), the football competition in the Pan American Games Rio 2007 will start on July 12th, with the women's competition. The Brazilian Team debuts at 3:30 pm against Uruguay, at João Havelange Stadium. The Men's Brazilian Team will play its opening match in the same venue, on July 15th, at 3:30 pm, against Honduras. The opening match of the Pan American Games Rio 2007 will pit Argentina against Panama on July 12th at 11:15 am in Miécimo da Silva Sports Complex.

The Rio 2007 men's football tournament will include 12 teams, six of which are members of the North and Central Americas and the Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF) - United States, Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti and Honduras - and six from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) - Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela.
The Pan American Games men's football tournament regulation determines the entry of sub-20 teams, with up to three older players allowed. President of CO-RIO and Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) Carlos Arthur Nuzman reinforced that the National Olympic Committees and the National Football Federations are autonomous to select their teams within the regulations in place.
There will be ten competitors in the women's competition, five of which from CONCACAF (United States, Jamaica, Panama, Mexico and Canada) and five from CONMEBOL (Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay). There are no age restrictions in the women's tournament.
