The Central American qualifiers will be decided from two groups of three taking place in Guatemala and Panama. The first triangular is scheduled for the Estadio Rod Carew in Panama City and consists of the hosts, El Salvador and Honduras competing in games from 7-11 November. Meanwhile, Guatemala City's Estadio Mateo Flores will be staging the other group matches that along with the home team have Costa Rica and Nicaragua competing from 14-18 November.
The winners of each group will advance to the CONCACAF U-23 Championship. The two second-place finishers from each triangular will meet in a home-and-away playoff series with the winner also progressing to the CONCACAF Final Round.
The USA, as the hosts, have been placed in Group A for the first round of the 2008 CONCACAF U-23 Championship. Once all the teams are confirmed for the tournament, CONCACAF will stage a draw for the remaining places to the first round groups and then unveil the complete schedule of matches.
