Mexico to host 2008 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Final Round
14.11.07 - At the conclusion of its Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday, CONCACAF announced that Mexico will host the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Final Round Qualification which will run from 2-13 April.
The six-team tournament will be held at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Chihuahua, Mexico with the top two teams qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
The 2008 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Final Round will include the defending champion, USA along with North Zone representatives Canada and Mexico, recently qualified Central American side Costa Rica, plus two teams from the Caribbean.
The Caribbean qualifiers will be decided from a pair of second round match-ups, as Puerto Rico meets Trinidad & Tobago and Cuba taking on Jamaica with the winners progressing to the CONCACAF Final Round.
Once all the teams are confirmed for the tournament, CONCACAF will stage a draw for the first round groups as well as unveiling the complete schedule of matches.
This the second CONCACAF Women's Olympic Final Round with the last one held in Costa Rica with the USA and Mexico finishing first and second, respectively, and therefore qualifying to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
