Real Madrid have reportedly approached New York Red Bulls star Jozy Altidore.
Major League Soccer star Altidore is part of Los Merengues' plans, as domestic newspaper AS has announced that the Primera Liga champions are planning to launch a bid for the youngster.
The 18-year-old, born in Florida from Haitian parents, has impressed in the Northern American league and the USA Under-20 international could head to Spain in the near future.
The attacker scored nine goals in 22 games in his second season in the top flight and impressed national coach Bob Bradley, who called him up for USA's friendly game in South Africa.
Real Madrid scout Carlos Bucero made the trip to watch the MLS Playoffs. The Spanish club seem to have changed their transfer policy and plan to sign young players and then develop them rather than continuing to add stars to their squad in expensive transfers.

El Madrid sondea el mercado internacional a la búsqueda de futbolistas jóvenes, con talento y de bajo coste. Tres cualidades que cumple el delantero Jozy Altidore(EE UU., 1989), la gran sensación de la Major Soccer League, que ya está en la agenda blanca para el próximo curso.
El Madrid ya tiene clara su estrategia de futuro: fichar a las mejores perlas del fútbol mundial justo antes de que exploten y su precio se dispare hasta cifras desproporcionadas. La dirección deportiva lleva tiempo rastreando los mercados emergentes y menos conocidos del panorama internacional y ya tiene un nombre en mente: Jozy Altidore. Se trata de un potente delantero (1,86 metros y 80 kilos de peso) estadounidense de apenas 18 años que actualmente juega en los New York Red Bulls de la Major Soccer League (MLS), la liga de EE UU, y al que el conjunto blanco está siguiendo muy de cerca.
Tanto, que el adjunto a Pedja Mijatovic, Carlos Bucero, viajó ayer a este país a ver el desenlace del campeonato (los finalistas afrontan dos eliminatorias a ida y vuelta y luego se juegan todo a un partido), que disputarán este domingo los Houston Dynamo y los New England Revolution, precisamente el equipo que eliminó a los Red Bulls en semifinales de la Conferencia Este. Bucero podría haber aprovechado este viaje para iniciar las conversaciones con el club de Nueva York e incluso atar a Altidore, un futbolista al alza. Esta temporada, su segunda en la MLS, ha marcado nueve goles en 22 partidos y su rendimiento ha sorprendido tanto que el seleccionador, Bob Bradley, le ha convocado ya para que debute mañana con la absoluta en un amistoso en Suráfrica.
Rejuvenecimiento.
Altidore cumple los requisitos de proyección y bajo coste que busca el Madrid, y continuaría la senda abierta por Marcelo. El club apostó hace una campaña por el brasileño (19 años) para que aprendiese de Roberto Carlos y esta temporada ha explotado, ganándose la confianza de Schuster. La idea es que Altidore esté varias temporadas junto a Raúl y Van Nistelrooy y después, ya aclimatado y más experimentado en la Liga española, coja el relevo del capitán y del holandés.

A mega MLS contract is being linked with AC Milan striker Ronaldo's cautious approach to his recovery from injury this season.
Tuttosport says Ronaldo has been contacted by both New York Red Bulls and LA Galaxy this year about continuing his career in the USA next year.
New York are said to have tabled a mega �15 million contract to the Brazilian, which is why he has taken his rehab very carefully and also delayed talks over a contract extension at Milan.
Ronaldo can leave Milan at the end of this season and New York want to bring the Brazil star to MLS.

Everton midfielder admits future wish
Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed he wants to play for Atletico Madrid in the future.
The former Barcelona youngster is on a long-term contract at Goodison Park, having signed a new five-year deal in the summer.
And while the Spaniard is in no rush to return home, he acknowledged he is attracted by the prospect of playing for Atletico.
"Some day I will end up at Atletico. It is a club that I have always liked and where I would like to play," said Arteta to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.

"In football, projects finish and start when one least expects it. As well as that, in my life everything has always gone very quickly.
"If someone had told me at the start of my career that at 25 I would already have played in three different countries, I would have said they were mad."
Meanwhile, Atletico are being linked with a bid for United States youngster Jozy Altidore, who plays for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.
Altidore, 18, has been called up to the USA squad for the first time for Saturday's friendly with South Africa.
