SOCCER CANADIEN: Classement Fifa : statu quo pour le Canada

L'Argentine termine l'année 2007 en tête du classement Fifa et remporte la distinction de "l'équipe de l'année" après la publication du classement du mois de décembre par la Fédération internationale de football. L'équipe nationale conserve sa 55e place et reste quatrième de la Concacaf.
Les Argentins, qui ont enregistré 11 victoires, 2 nuls et 3 défaites au cours de cette année, n'ont jamais figuré au premier rang mondial à la fin d'une année. Ils succèdent au palmarès au Brésil, désormais deuxième. L'Italie complète le podium 2007.
Avec 578 points pour les quatre années passées, le Canada se situe au 55ème rang. Il se trouve à deux points (et deux places) du Honduras au classement général. Le Mexique (15e) est la meilleure équipe de la région. Ces deux formations seront aussi théoriquement dans le groupe du Canada lors des éliminatoires du Mondial 2010 et il faudra terminer parmi les deux premiers pour passer au tour suivant.
Le dernier membre de ce groupe sera probablement la Jamaïque, qui occupe actuellement le 97e rang, alors que Saint-Vincent et Grenadines, que le Canada devra battre pour faire partie de la poule avec les 3 adversaires précités, est actuellement la 101e équipe au classement mondial.
Les Etats-Unis (19e), l'autre puissance de la zone, conservent leur deuxième place au sein de la Concacaf. Derrière ce quatuor, viennent le Panama (67e), Haïti (69e), le Costa Rica (70e) et Cuba (71e).
Le Mozambique gagne la palme de la meilleure progression de l'année: 53 places. Parti de la 128e position, il figure désormais au 75e échelon mondial.

Boyz 97th in the world rankings

Image Jamaica's Reggae Boyz will end 2007 in 97th place in the FIFA Coca Cola World Football Rankings, having started the year at 57th in the world. They have moved up one place since November.
The Reggae Boyz finished 4th in the Caribbean with Haiti still leading at 69th, Cuba at 71st and Trinidad and Tobago at 81st.
The top twenty in world football remains the same with Argentina leading ahead of Brazil, Italy, Spain and Germany.

NO CHANGE: U.S. stays at 19 in final FIFA ranking
The United States remained No. 19 in the final FIFA ranking of the year, which was released Monday.
There also was no change in the top 10.
Argentina (1,523 points), remained atop the rankings, followed by No. 2 Brazil (1,502), Italy (1,498), Spain (1,349) and Germany (1,298).
The second five included the Czech Republic (1,298), France (1,243), Portugal (1,241), the Netherlands
(1,170) and Croatia (1,129) in that order.
The next ranking will be released Jan. 16.

Is there a good reason why a picture of the Jamaican team is chosen to icon an article which has to do with Haiti's ranking ?

its a carribean ranking but if you have a picture of Haitian NT .. I would be glad to change it ..

Hey Bana2166, you need to change it, add the Haiti squad. While, you are at it, add the Cuban, Trinidad squads.( More info instead of less)
