Pierre-Louis Named National Player of Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lee University senior forward Ricardo Pierre-Louis has been picked as the 2007 Brine-NAIA National Men's Soccer Player of the Year. He becomes the first-ever Lee athlete to earn the honor in any sport.
The three-time NAIA First Team All-America honoree finished the year with 29 goals and missed almost a month with a leg injury. He ends his collegiate career with Lee's season-scoring record (33) and career scoring mark (101).
Senior midfielder Stanley Nyazamba gives the Flames, who have won 53 matches and made two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament over the past three years, two players named first-team All-Americans. Nyazamba also broke Lee's season and career assist records.
"Ricardo richly deserves the honor," said Lee coach Henry Moyo. "He has teamed with Stanley and our other seniors to bring so much national attention to our program. Yet he is a very humble young man. Since the day he first walked on the Lee campus, Ricardo has been outstanding as he performed on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Having Ricardo and Stanley named first-team All-Americans shows the type of respect the Lee program has earned across the nation.
Pierre-Louis, Nyazamba, Nick Odeny and Sveinung Eriksen were also named to the NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete team, which was released this week.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2007 Men's Soccer All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Selection Committee. There are three teams in addition to an honorable mention list.
"All the guys are worthy of these awards and very deserving," said Richard Vardy, All-America Selection Committee Chair and head coach of Berry (Ga.) College. "These guys represent teams from every different region so I think there is a nice balance."
The Brine-NAIA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year will be released Jan. 18, 2008 in conjunction with the NSCAA National Convention in Baltimore.

I am Happy for Ricardo, not only that he recieves an education, but also has a chance to become a professionel athlete. Physically, this is the kind of athletes that we need in the Haitian NT; I hope that he can perform well at the next level and perform well for Haiti like Peguerro or even better if possible.
