Goalie critically injured in Mass. game
September 26, 2008
WEST HAVEN, Conn. --A University of New Haven soccer goalie is in critical condition at a Boston hospital with a head injury he suffered during a game at Merrimack College.
James Hilaire is being treated in the surgical intensive care unit at Boston Medical Center. New Haven President Steven Kaplan has e-mailed students asking them to keep Hilaire and his family in their thoughts.
A school official says Hilaire was knocked unconscious Wednesday night when he took a knee to his head and broke his jaw. The game at Merrimack in North Andover, Mass., was suspended.
Hilaire's soccer team profile says he is a senior majoring in criminal justice, and he was born in Haiti.
