Most of the media in Haiti are owned by the "private sector" . Are there any publicaly funded (through donations) independent radio, newspaper, television etc...?

I've read to many propaganda articles where the writer/owner are trying to push their opinions instead of presenting facts. I need quality journalism, any recommendations?

Very funny! LOL . I am sorry Pano, I just had to laugh no disrespect to you but to the "publicaly funded (through donations)" . There cannot be such a thing in Haiti, everyone is out to make money my dear. Why do you think we have that recent brouhaha at the parlement: money.

Money is the root, the base and mobile of all actions.

So I'm doomed to read opinions instead of news. I still think it's feasible, although the risks of being murdered like Jean Dominique would be high after Preval leaves office.

Your best bet Pano is to get your news from an eyewitness. I got lots of news from the parlement through a friend and I do not want to post them here because its sooo bad. I have no respect for most of the haitian congress (chambre basse especially).

Coming to mind is Groupe Média Alternatif / AlterPresse, apparently affiliated with Comunica. Further investigation is advised.

Presently, it is impossible to have independent Haitian news, maybe in the future. The government and society is too unstable – that will create more chaos. The country (government and society) must first move to a real democratic stage in order for independent news to blossom.
