A clerk for the U.S. Patent Office was busted for flying off the handle and slugging a flight attendant when she informed him the plane had run out of chicken dinners, the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's Office said yesterday.
Pierre Delis, 36, had been visiting family in Switzerland when he boarded an American Airlines flight from Zurich to JFK Airport on Sunday.
The mid-air battle occurred about an hour and a half into the flight when the attendant wheeled out the cart to hand out dinner and told Delis she didn't have the meal option he wanted.
Delis, a Haitian immigrant who lives in Maryland, started yelling and cursing at the woman before he punched her in the chest, prosecutors said at his arraignment in federal court on charges of assaulting a flight attendant.
Two passengers and another flight attendant subdued Delis until the plane landed safely in New York, authorities said.
Delis pleaded not guilty and was released on a $100,000 bond.
